I basically became my own client Monday. I was recently tested for food allergies/sensitivities. Nine foods came back at a high level. Some of those are true allergies because I have not eaten them in four years, but the rest could be allergies or just that I consume them often. In fact, they are staples in my diet. When I say allergy, I don't necessarily mean breaking out in rashes or digestive upset. These foods could cause other chronic inflammation, effecting so many things: body pain, fatigue, insomnia, and mood, just to name a few. The only way to be sure whether it's an allergy or consumption is an elimination diet. Being vegan, and recently gluten free, the immediate thought is "what do I eat??" That's where the health coach part of me comes in. This is what I do for clients. When they want to make a dietary change, or a doctor advises them to remove some things from their diet, I help them understand it's not what you can't have, it's what you CAN have. People often get so caught up in the can't that they never start. I help them start and stay on path. So, my journey began yesterday morning. It's about taking it one day at a time and so far so good!
